The hills were brushed with stardust as
The angels came to earth,
And shepherds left the misty fields
On hearing of His birth.
They journeyed to the stable where
The everlasting light
That touched the souls of men with life
Shone through the dark of night.
There nestled in sweet Mary's arms,
The dear Lord Jesus lay,
All wrapped in beggar's rags, asleep,
His cradle filled with hay.
The Star of David shines at last
His light from Bethlehem,
As shepherds pray and angels sing
And great kings honor Him!
